Information-Turkish Ministry of the Interior “Coronavirus New Measures”

November 21, 2020

Dear Members of the Koç University Community,

Additional measures have been taken to manage the risks the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic poses on public health and well-being, ensure social isolation, practice social distancing, and control the spread of the disease.

The measures stated in the November 18, 2020 circular published by the Turkish Ministry of the Interior are effective as of 20:00 on Friday, November 20, 2020.

Based on these new decisions, we would like to bring to your attention the following measures:

  • Laboratory researchers must organize their work hours in compliance with the new curfew restrictions, and not be on campus outside of these hours (Curfew restrictions apply on weekends except during the 10:00 to 20:00 time period)
  • Employees over 65 are required to comply with curfew restrictions specified for people who are 65 and above, and not enter the campus outside of these specified hours (They are allowed to be outdoors between 10:00 and 13:00 during the day).

These rules are considered to be within occupational health and safety measures for combating the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and as such, those who do not comply will not be able to enter the campus.

Please always bear in mind that the health, safety, and well-being of our community is our top priority. Thank you for your utmost attention, patience and understanding.
