Curfew Restrictions – New Restrictions and Measures

December 4, 2020

Dear Members of the Koç University Community,

Additional measures have been taken to manage the risks the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic poses on public health and well-being, ensure social isolation, practice social distancing, and control the spread of the disease.

We would like to bring to your attention the precautionary measures listed below, taken in compliance with the circular “Curfew Restrictions – New Restrictions and Measures” published by the Ministry of Interior on December 1, 2020:

  • In order to minimize the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, working hours of employees of public institutions and organizations have been set as 10:00 to 16:00 effective Wednesday, December 2, 2020, and all employees are expected to comply with this rule.
  • Employees over 65 are required to comply with curfew restrictions specified for people who are 65 and above, and not enter the campus outside of these specified hours. (They are allowed to be outdoors between 10:00 and 13:00 during the day)
  • Weekend curfew will now apply to the whole country, starting from 9 p.m. on Friday continuing through 5 a.m. Monday, including Saturday and Sunday until further notice.
  • The first weekend curfew will start on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 21:00 and end at 05:00 on Monday, December 7, 2020, and it will continue the same way on the following weekends.

We would like to remind you that except for those employees who should be physically present on campus due to their essential responsibilities and duties (security and fire brigade staff), no one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus before 10:00 or after 16:00 during weekdays.

Please always bear in mind that the health, safety, and well-being of our community is our top priority. Thank you for your utmost attention, patience and understanding.
