Circular Concerning Normalization in the Fight against the Coronavirus

March 6, 2021

Dear Members of the Koç University Community,

New changes have been made to the measures set on December 1, 2020 to manage the risks the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic poses on public health and well-being, ensure social isolation, practice social distancing, and control the spread of the disease.

We would like to bring to your attention the new measures listed below, in compliance with the circular from the Ministry of the Interior Circular Concerning Normalization in the Fight against the Coronavirus on March 2, 2021.

  • The Ministry of Health and the Coronavirus Scientific Advisory Board set a four-tier system where provinces are now divided into 4 different risk groups: low (blue), medium (yellow), high (orange), and very high (red) based on infection and vaccination rates. Istanbul has been placed in the “high risk” level. To view the map, please visit the following page: https://covid19.saglik.gov.tr/.
  • The working hours of employees in public institutions and organizations that were set as 10:00 to 16:00 since December 2, 2020 have now been changed to regular working hours.
  • Employees over 65 are required to comply with curfew restrictions specified for people who are 65 and above, and not enter the campus outside of these specified hours. (They are allowed to be outdoors between 10:00 and 14:00 during the day)
  • Until a new circular is issued, the weekend curfew will be in effect from 21:00 Friday to 05:00 Saturday and from 21:00 Saturday until Monday 05:00, which includes all of Sunday in Istanbul.

Please always bear in mind that the health, safety, and well-being of our community is our top priority. Thank you for your utmost attention, patience and understanding.
